Getting to know Joer.
About
Joer Art is based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and is founded and run by José (JOER) Bilo. JOER has spent most of his professional career in the commercial graphic design field and has taken the opportunity to redirect his career to traditional and digital illustration. JOER has spent the last five years finding his niche and honing his skills using pen and ink, pastel pencils, and Adobe Photoshop. His use of simple pens and pencils to doodle have become his instrument of choice and he has fallen in love with cheap colored ballpoint pens.
What is appealing to him is that the tools are common and simple yet can be used to create something beautiful and complex. His aim is to take the viewer into a scene and share the emotion of the moment. Drawing allows him to tell a story through his eyes and to connect with others even though their backgrounds are very different. He is excited to showcase some of his vignettes, nudes and commentary illustrations.
